Promoting ezine articles with CommentLuv-enabled blogs

Blog commenting for backlinks

Blog comments are a popular method of creating links to web pages. If a blog is not enabled for CommentLuv and the comment policy does not allow “deep linking” to a website, you will only be able to use a root domain or profile as your URL. This means that there are no links to your article. In general, even if you can leave deep links like your website, you can only use your real (or nickname) as the link text that will be anchored to your article link, giving you little keyword value.

Benefits of using CommentLuv-enabled blogs

When commenting on CommentLuv-enabled blogs, you can get better keywords as anchor text for your articles because CommentLuv will link to your articles using your titles or specific keyword phrases via default links.

Also, since some blogs automatically approve comments from the same commenter, instead of having your comments go to moderation each time you comment with a different article URL, you can use the same profile URL as your website and any of your last 10 articles in the CommentLuv area.

Steps to use CommentLuv-enabled blogs

The following step-by-step guide will cover how to:

  • register your site
  • If you are already registered, please add an additional URL
  • set up your account
  • Find CommentLuv-enabled blogs
  • start commenting

Are you ready to learn how to promote your articles using CommentLuv? Let us begin!

1. Register your site

Click on the registration link at the top of the CommentLuv system site page (see link below in author box) and fill out the standard registration form, including selection of username, password and Terms of Service agreement. You can choose to have just a username instead of registering for a blog (similar to WordPress.com registration).

Once you’re logged in, you’ll see a link to complete your profile – just click Edit Profile and enter a Twitter username (if applicable), your already-chosen username, and a short bio.

2. Add additional URLs

If you already have an account associated with another site, such as a blog or article site, you can add an additional URL for 6 credits per year. Credits can be purchased or earned.

earn credits

Obtaining credits can be done in the following ways:

  • Refer people to the site. Have the most unique clicks in a given month and you will earn 5 credits.
  • Introduce the most new members in a given month and you’ll earn 10 credits.
  • Write a tutorial on a CommentLuv-enabled site. Depending on the details of your tutorial, you will earn anywhere from 1 to 20 credits.

To refer people, you’ll need an affiliate URL. Your affiliate URL will be in your member panel (similar to WordPress admin panel). Just sign in or, if you’re signed in, visit Your Profile.

Under Affiliate Settings, change the Enable Affiliate Links dropdown to Yes, and enter your PayPal address (you earn a commission if someone you refer on the site buys credits).

Once enabled, you will see your affiliate link under Affiliate Details. In Advanced Settings, you can also enter a URL from which you will send referrals. This is only applicable if you have your own domain; If you’re referring people from your articles, profile, or other sites, you’ll need to use your referral link, simply because you can’t claim everyone who comes from one article site.

Purchase of credits

Buying credits is easy too – just click Buy More in the top right corner of the site when you log in. This will take you to a page where you can purchase credits in amounts of 5, 10, 25, 50, 75, and 100 credits for $1 per credit through PayPal.

3. Set up your site

Once you’ve signed up, you can enter your main URL by clicking Edit Site in your member profile. Or, if you’re adding an additional URL, select Additional URLs from the Member menu. You will then enter the following details about your site or article profile.

Website Name

Your site name should be something descriptive, like your name on your articles account. This will be the anchor text that links to your author bio.

website url

Your site URL will be your author URL. To find your author bio URL, simply log into your account and click on your name in one of your articles. It will look like this:

ezinearticles.com/?expert=Kristi_Hines

URL for the channel

To find your feed URL, right-click the RSS feed icon next to Expert Author and copy the link location. It will look like this:

feeds.ezinearticles.com/expert/Kristi_Hines.xml

Number of posts to return

You can enter up to 10 to have your last 10 articles available in the CommentLuv dropdown menus. If there are no other fields, just submit and you’re all set.

Website Description

Enter your account description. Include what he likes to write about, how long he has been writing, or just include his author bio.

Website Category

Next, select a site category; This may be the category that best fits the topic that you mainly write about in your articles.

Keywords

Finally, enter up to 6 keywords that fit your articles.

You can always change these details later if you wish, with the exception of your main site URL. If you no longer want your articles from this site later, you can always delete that site and add a new one as your main URL. If you want to add additional sites (blogs, article marketing sites, etc.), you can skip to the instructions in Adding an additional URL.

4. Find blogs enabled for CommentLuv

Now that your account is set up, you’re ready to find some CommentLuv-enabled blogs to comment on. There are many ways to find CommentLuv-enabled blogs, including using the CommentLuv search engine. This can be found on the right hand side of the ComLuv site menu bar. Google’s personalized search results will bring up the latest posts on the keyword query you search for on CommentLuv-enabled blogs. You can also use your favorite search engine. Just search for a keyword and CommentLuv.

5. Comment on CommentLuv-enabled blogs

Now that you’ve found a CommentLuv-enabled blog with a post you want to comment on, simply scroll down to the comment form. How forms will vary in appearance due to design customizations.

Enter your name, your email address (not shown in comments), and enter your profile URL as the website. The CommentLuv checkbox should change from image or text to a dropdown list of your last 10 posts. If you have additional URLs registered, your last 10 articles/posts for each registered site will appear in the dropdown. Just select the post you want to leave with your comment.

For the best results (including increased traffic to your article), make a great comment. The better your comment, the more likely people are to want to follow your link. Also, try to select a relevant article that will appeal to anyone who is reading the post you are commenting on. This will make it more likely that others will also be interested in your article, making it more likely for them to click on it.

6. Default links

As you’ll notice, in the dropdown menu, their latest posts are limited to 10 and are linked using the article title as the anchor text. If you are interested in linking to older or newer articles using a specific set of keywords, you can do so by adding Default Links to your member profile.

Anchor text, simply put, is the words that your link is associated with. So if you want your page to rank in search engines for “make money blogging”, you’ll want your link to be associated with that text.

The default links are 4 credits per year each. To purchase or earn credits, see #2 under Additional URLs.

To set default links, go to the Member menu and select Default Links. Choose the anchor text you want to use for a particular article. For example, after doing some research on the Google AdWords Keyword Tool, I chose to use the keyword phrase “Make Money Blogging” for an article I wrote about a program that teaches how to make money blogging.

Next, submit the link URL to your article. In the dropdown menu, you will see the root URL of this domain. In the next box, fill in the rest of the article URL (from?Your-Article-Title&id=123) and submit. The next screen will ask you to confirm that your URL and anchor text are correct; you can click the link to try it. Then Confirm. Your default link will appear at the bottom of your CommentLuv dropdown when you post comments.

7. Troubleshooting

The only problem you may run into when commenting is that the site is unable to pull your feed due to system glitches. It can be easily fixed by visiting the Unban URL form and entering the URL. It’s only happened to me twice in almost a year of using CommentLuv-enabled blogs, so it probably won’t happen to you very often.

Summary

In this article, you learned the benefits of commenting on CommentLuv-enabled blogs to build links, and how to set up your account so that your last 10 articles appear every time you comment, as well as how to optimize the anchor text of your articles even better with default links and short keyword phrases. So why not get out there and start promoting your items with ComLuv today!
