An expensive way to promote your business and results can vary, but if you have the budget to advertise in a newspaper on a consistent basis, it can work. However, make sure newspaper readers are your target market. A newspaper ad that is not seen by potential customers will not be good at all and will be a waste of money.

One type of newspaper ad that may work best is one that is placed on a special “wedding quilt.” At certain times of the year, a newspaper may run a 2 or more page length or even a pull-out section specifically focused on brides and weddings. This would be a possible time to promote a bridal makeup service.

Advertising magazine

Similar to newspaper advertising, magazine advertising is an expensive form of advertising. However, if you plan to run a premium art makeup business and your ideal client reads a certain type of magazine, then it might be a good place to promote your business. For example, there are many bridal magazines that can be a good place to promote a premium bridal makeup service.

Bridal Fairs

Another way to promote your makeup business to brides and their wedding parties is at bridal shows. Prices for a booth vary widely and can have mixed results. If the weather is bad and there are many bridal shows advertised in your local area, the results are poor from my experience.

However, if you do your research and find a bridal show that has a good turnout from your potential customers, it can be a worthwhile investment. Ask other merchants if the wedding fair is useful for their business. One or two well-known and well-attended bridal shows a year, despite the cost of having a booth there, can provide enough customers for the year. This may be a better investment than attending many smaller, lower priced bridal shows.

When considering the investment required, which could run into the hundreds, look at the potential return on your business. In other words, can you earn enough from each customer who meets you at the bridal show to get the job done and make a profit?

Local directories

If your customers are primarily in your local area, a local directory will give your business visibility. People are said to have to see your company logo or something to do with your company 7 times to impress them. There are so many advertising messages nowadays that you have to be seen everywhere to make yourself known.

When advertising in a local directory or even in a newspaper or magazine (as described above), include a call to action. An ad that doesn’t ask readers to do anything won’t be as successful as one that gets readers to actually take action. Provide a phone number for people to call in exchange for something of value. It can lead to a reply message configured for the purpose of getting people’s details.

Once you have your details, you will have a list of potential clients that you can call and promote your bridal makeup business.
