Beaches
There are a number of small beaches that are scattered around the bay in the shape of a cloverleaf. The most important beach is known as Agios Spyridon. It is a beautiful coastal area of white sand. The water at the beach is clean but colder than elsewhere in Corfu. You can stay a few days to enjoy and relax on the beach and its surroundings.
If you walk 200 meters from the town, you will reach another beautiful beach known as Agios Petros. At the beach, you can enjoy the seclusion. You can enjoy water sports on the beach such as water skiing, canoeing and paragliding.
Other activities to do
If you want to protect yourself from the sun and enjoy delicious Greek cuisine, you can choose an ice cold beer or a glass of local wine. You will find it easily as there are a number of taverns and bars on the seafront and in the town itself.
After cooling off, it can take a twenty minute drive to reach Angelokastro. It is a 13th century Byzantine fortress located on top of a hill above Paleokastritsa. You can reach the top of the fortress via stone steps. From the top, you can take in the breathtaking views of Corfu’s beautiful northwest coast below.
If you’re adventurous, you can rent a boat and sail to the nearby secluded bays or enjoy scuba diving in the area’s famous caves. The town has several caves that attract most tourists. There is also a boat that runs day trips to the caves.
You can also visit the nearby villages of Lakones and the traditional Krini. There is a 12th century Theotokos monastery located on the north side of the bay or visit Angelokastro Castle in Krini and enjoy a great view.
The town has many supermarkets and souvenir shops where you can buy gifts for your loved ones. It is a very beautiful and unspoiled city.
It’s easy to imagine how beautiful this place must have been in the past. Still, a few dozen beautiful beach mats and waterfalls will make you feel like you’re in heaven when you get to the place. It is a lovely place and if you are planning a Corfu holiday this summer, it is definitely recommended to plan at least one day to visit Paleokastritsa.
