Weight Loss Motivation: How To Get Motivated To Lose The Extra Weight

Knowing the good consequences of losing weight is one thing; getting sustained motivation to get there is another matter. Motivation to lose weight is easy… at first. Many weight loss enthusiasts find it difficult to keep their motivation high after the initial phase. This is true of all human endeavours. We start off very motivated, only to see the motivation fade as time goes on.

So, if you want to lose weight and keep it off forever, you should have a few tricks up your sleeve that can help you keep your motivation in check, especially during times of doubt and difficulty. Here are a few:

Write and rewrite your goals

The process of writing and rewriting goals never ceases to amaze me. This is a powerful tool as it engages the unconscious mind, which is solely responsible for generating motivation, to stay on track. It’s also a constant reminder of the reasons you’ve embarked on the weight loss journey in the first place.

The more you write and rewrite your goals and the more you think about them, the clearer they become and the sharper the definitions.

Clarity is power and will increase your motivation. So make it a habit to exercise and review your goals daily. Get a notebook and keep it with you at all times. Every day rewrite your weight loss goals. The best times to do this are both before bed and as soon as you wake up in the morning, because the unconscious mind is most suggestible during those times of the day.

The mastermind principle

We become the people around us most of the time, as mental performance and motivation expert Brian Tracy never tires of saying. So the people he maintains close proximity to can certainly make or break his weight loss motivation. And you can’t do much about it.

However, choosing the right company is the right decision, however, I am not suggesting that you throw out all your less than skinny friends. However, minimizing your contact, at least until you reach your target weight, can jump-start your motivation again.

So you should start hanging out with leaner and fitter people and your unconscious mind will start turning on the new frequencies and vibrations. Head over to your local gym or health club and try to spend as much time as possible socializing with the kind of people you want to become.

Seek Inspiration

Another way to increase your motivation levels is to seek inspiration and find a mental mentor to help you get moving. This mentor does not have to be a coach or a spiritual guru; Mentors come in many shapes and forms. A biography or book can also be good mentors. When we get inspired, we see a better version of ourselves, this can be very encouraging and attractive to take further action.

Therefore, you need to find out who inspires you the most. Maybe it’s Gandhi or the old lady next door who walks every day despite her old age. Regardless, she’ll move faster and more seamlessly to make her weight loss resolution a concrete reality, while at the same time, she’ll keep her sanity and make her journey more enjoyable.
