SEO – Free Search Engine Optimization Training

SEO or search engine optimization is one of the most important aspects when it comes to making your website stand out. SEO can be tricky when you’re just starting out, however, that’s what I’m here for. I’ve created a Getting Started with SEO training that will help you figure out some of the ins and outs of SEO to hopefully clear up some of the mystery for you.

The first thing you’ll need to do is figure out which keywords you’d like to “target”. I suggest that you create 10-15 strong keywords to target each page of your website. You don’t want to use a lot, you want to focus on one keyword and just use different variations of that keyword to make sure you get the most out of your SEO efforts. I would recommend using the Google keyword tool.

This tool is great for optimizing your site and generating good keywords. First of all, it’s free and shows the number of times a keyword was searched for in the last month. Not only that, but it also shows you different variations of the keyword you searched for so you can get several good ideas using this tool.

It is also very important that when writing your keywords you do not repeat the same keywords over and over again. You need to make sure that you are using different variations of the keyword. If not, then search engines will most likely mark your site as spam. For example, if your goal is SEO, you may want to use SEO, SEO marketing, search engine optimization, search engine submission, search engine optimizer, SEO tools, SEO guides, etc.

The most important place to have your keywords is in your Titles, be sure to limit your title to 15 words or less, including your main keywords.

Now you’ll also want to use meta tags, several search engines don’t use meta tags anymore, however you don’t want to skip this step, it all helps. When entering meta tags, you’ll need to have some experience with HTML. If you don’t, that’s fine, I’ll provide you with some examples.

When using meta tags, there are 2 main things to remember: You will need a meta description, as well as your meta tags. You’ll also want to make sure you put all of your labels between the and the
tags on your page. You don’t want to use more than 200 characters in your meta description. This is a description of your page that search engines will pick up, for example:

Example:

With meta keywords you can go a bit more into detail, however you don’t want to use more than 1000 characters in your meta tags. Search engines don’t use META keywords as often as they used to, but there’s no reason not to. Be sure to separate each keyword or keyphrase with a comma. Remember that each of your keywords must also be present on your page for higher rankings and to avoid getting caught by spam.

Example:

If you need help generating your meta tags, I suggest using a meta tag generator. When you use this tool it will ask for “Meta Charset” for most sites it will use “Universal UTF-8”

Once you have decided on the keywords you are going to use, now you need content. Having relevant content on your site is crucial for SEO and getting noticed by search engines. If your page has nothing to do with your title or your keywords, you won’t rank high on any search engine and will probably get flagged for spam. Good SEO and learning how to optimize your site takes time. Don’t rush, take your time and think carefully about what you are going to say and what keywords you are going to use, this will definitely pay off in the long run.

I have provided you with basic SEO knowledge on how to optimize your new site. If you follow what I have shown you, you will increase traffic to your site and get a better search engine ranking.
