Sailing away to Cabo San Lucas

Protected from the great waves of the west, Cabo San Lucas is considered by many to be a boating and boating paradise. The calm waters, beautiful scenery, and abundant ocean wildlife create ideal conditions for year-round sailing. For this reason, boaters, sailors, and fishermen have long sought this destination for ocean adventures. When visiting Cabo, there are many different ways to experience the ocean. Some will relax you and others will surely get your blood pumping. Whatever your taste, you will find it here.

For a truly relaxing experience, consider a sunset cruise on a rented sailboat. Imagine yourself traversing the dark blue waters of the ocean as the sun sets in the west. As you enjoy the priceless view and smell of the sea breeze, you are presented with a glass of your favorite Pinot Grigio. In the background, you can hear the soft sounds of island music that radiate from the ship’s speakers. And since there is no shortage of wind, you don’t have to worry about the sound or smell of the diesel engines propelling the boat along its path. A few hours on a Cabo boat cruise and you will have no choice but to find the rest and relaxation for which you came to Cabo.

For a slightly more adventurous experience, consider a snorkeling cruise to El Arco “El Arco” in Santa Maria Bay. El Arco is one of the most photographed places in Cabo. Travel aboard a snorkel boat to this preserved area for a chance to see what all the fuss is about. During low tide, visitors often walk and take pictures under the arch. The more adventurous dive to snorkel in the waters surrounding the arch. If you think the view from the surface was anything, you will be surprised to find that there is so much more below the surface. While this fantastic spot can be accessed from the shore, a snorkeling cruise is certainly a more entertaining, if indirect, way to visit.

For the adrenaline junkies, Cabo also has a lot for you. What better way to get your blood pumping than aboard a shark fishing boat in the waters of Baja California. Shark fishing is big business in these parts, as sharks are used to supply much of the local seafood. Aboard a shark fishing boat, thrill seekers come face to face with the often feared hammerhead shark, among several other species. The hammerhead shark has been said to be one of the hardest catches in fishing, making it even more fun. When the fight is over, you’ll want to adopt a catch-and-release policy, once you’ve been able to take a few photos.

Regardless of how you move, the seas around Cabo San Lucas certainly have something in store for you. Between trips to the pool, bars, restaurants, and luxury hotels, take time to enjoy the natural beauty of this area as well. You will be glad you did.
