Review of an intriguing book about "Five go to camp" An Adventure of the Famous Five by Enid Blyton

INTRODUCTION:

Children get into the beautiful habit of reading books right after reading a couple of Enid Blyton’s Famous Five. It is not the case every time for everyone. But based on my personal experience, I fell in love with books right after reading my first Enid Blyton novel, “Five Go Off To Camp.” I started reading books from my childhood but I tell you this book rekindled my long lost instinct to read or maybe I realized that I was born to read books.

A VERY USEFUL APPEARANCE:

Although “Five Go Off To Camp” is the seventh book in the Famous Five series, Ms. Blyton strives to present a vivid depiction of the main characters that prevents new readers from drawing a blank.

THE FAMOUS FIVE:

The adventure begins when the four children Julian, Dick, Anne, their cousin Georgina and their dog Timothy decide to spend the summer holidays alone to camp on the moors. Much to her disappointment, her parents appoint Professor Luffy, an insect researcher, as her caretaker.

THE SUDDEN TURN OF EVENTS:

As they reach the wastelands and settle down, all of their disappointments disappear as they hit it off with the professor and begin to enjoy the atmosphere of the wastelands. Wherever they go, they find themselves shrouded in mysteries, but they did not realize that these beautiful wastelands hold the deadliest of mysteries ever solved by them.

THE REPRESENTATION OF THE MAIN CHARACTERS:

Although in their preteens they are represented as very responsible, resourceful, brave and well-educated children, which makes them famous and loved by all. Their dog, Timmy, as they call him, plays an important role in the process of unraveling every mystery they come across. in.

THE BEGINNING OF THE ADVENTURE:

During their stay on the moors, they befriend a farmer named Jock, who shows them around the moors. One day, while playing near a deserted tunnel at the end of the wastelands, they are confronted by a one-legged old man named “Wooden Legs Sam”, who scares them with terrifying stories of ghost trains coming out of the deserted tunnel every night. and disappears into thin air. He threatens them and asks them to stay away from the haunted place. But the Famous Five weren’t the kids who loved to stay out of trouble. This little tidbit arouses the children’s thirst for adventure and they decide to spend the rest of the vacation unraveling the mysterious happenings of the less inhabited wastelands.

THE SPECIAL DESCRIPTION:

One of the most important things to note when reading this book is the beautiful description of the delicacies that the four children eat each day. The way the author describes it can make you salivate even though the menu is just bacon and eggs.

CONCLUSION:

The whole book captivates the readers as if they are enchanted by the spell cast by the 4 boys and their dog and makes us feel like we are part of the Famous Five in the wastelands unlocking the mystery.
