With human civilization speeding down the path of greater progress, the world is getting smaller every day. Before the invention of the telephone, it was unimaginable that one could have a complete conversation with someone even twenty miles away. In today’s world, we can’t even imagine what life would be like if we couldn’t talk across oceans and continents.
It was one thing when a phone was attached to a wall and could only be moved as far as the phone cord. Today, even in our homes, we can have discussions about the weather and everything else under the sun not only from the living rooms, but also from the kitchen, the bathroom, the attic or any other place you can imagine. All this, thanks to the invention of the cordless telephone.
There was a time when the car phone was considered a breakthrough. Who would have imagined that there would come a time when you could talk while on your way from one place to another. However, even with cordless phones and car phones, we are still tied to something – in this case, the home and the car, respectively.
Then the big boom happened! We saw the invention of something that would lead to revolutionary changes in the way the world carried out its communication. The era of the mobile phone had begun. In truth, this was a long way from the time when you had to send letters when it came to some message of great importance. In the days when posting was the only way to communicate quickly, one could never have imagined getting quick responses. But now, as mobile phones continue to take over our lives, the buzzword is instant communication.
We are the children of the communication era and we are witnessing the emergence of ever more innovative modes of communication. And the best representative of this era of the global village is the mobile phone. We are no longer bound by telephone cables. We can talk to our loved and close ones, our colleagues and mentors, and anyone else we would like while we are on the go.
Gone are the days of memorizing important phone numbers. Gone are the days of finding a pay phone if we want to make a call. If we need to make a call today, all we have to do is reach into our pockets, pull out our cell phones, and dial.
