Cafes and Restaurants in Greymouth (New Zealand)

GREYMOUTH CAFES AND RESTAURANTS

There is certainly no shortage of places to eat and drink in Greymouth. They are scattered throughout the township, but deciding which one to choose will depend on whether you want a coffee/tea and a bite to eat or a full meal. Many of these places have free WIFI and that would be a plus in my book. This is my personal choice: for coffee and a bite to eat, I’d go to Maggie’s Kitchen, GAP or Robert Harris. For dinner I would go to the Union Hotel, Stumpers Restaurant or Speights Alehouse. For a takeout, how about Bonzai’s Pizza? For something exotic, try the Sampan or Priya restaurant.

DP One Coffee

On Mawhira Quay, near the Railway Hotel. This is an old fashioned cafe with a relaxing atmosphere with New Zealand music playing in the background.

Ali’s Cafe to Eat and Drink

This is around the corner from the BNZ in the town square.

Blanchfields

This is on Guinness Street. A very popular bakery for those who want food for lunch or morning tea.

Bonzai Pizza

On Mackay Street, Bonzai’s has a pizza delivery business.

Speight’s Brewery

Also on Mawhira Quay, this place is a good place to grab a beer and eat. It also has outdoor tables in case you feel like having your beer or food outdoors.

Robert Harris

This cafe is at the east end of Mackay Street. A good place for a coffee and a cookie.

Maggie’s kitchen

My favorite. This place is on Mackay Street across the street from Paper Plus. Makes some good meals for a reasonable price.

west coast vape

Nice little cafe that also has computers to access the internet for $2

Stumper’s Restaurant

On the corner of Mackay and Albert Street, it does very good food. Good place for a dinner with nothing too exotic on the menu.

Coffee Gap

Corner of Guinness and Tainui Street right in the center of the city, this cafe has recently opened.

Sampan Restaurant

Chinese and oriental cuisine. Sampan is on Albert Street.

mega miter 10

This place has a cafe if you fancy a coffee while you shop. It’s next to the garden depot.

Hotel Union

St. Herbert. Nice place for a meal. It has a true colonial atmosphere.

Priya (Indian Restaurant)

Priya is an Indian restaurant. It stood on Tainui Street until it was destroyed by fire, but is now in temporary accommodation at the Regent Theater until it is rebuilt on Tainui Street.

McDonald’s and KFC

If you like Macdonalds or KFC you are in luck as they are close to the city center near the main roundabout.
