Like a puppy, growling and snipping can be cute behaviors, but the more you allow them to happen, the faster they turn into habits and behaviors that will be even harder to get rid of. Most dogs show signs of aggression towards their owners to assert themselves as the alpha over their owner. You want to let your dog know that you are the leader of the pack and that what you say is valid, not the other way around. When your Puggle puppy knows that you are the leader, he will feel more confident and aggression should decrease.
Food aggression is a very common problem that usually doesn’t start until the puppies are a little older. However, no matter how old your puppy begins to show signs of aggression from his food, toys, or treats, you need to show him that this is not acceptable. The alpha dog of the pack is always the first to eat and also controls who eats and also when. Keep your Puggle puppy in another room while you prepare his food so he can’t get bossy by jumping or barking. When he’s ready, call him to his eating area and have him sit quietly for at least 5 seconds before giving him his food. This will show him that you are in control of the food supply, therefore you are alpha and deserve respect.
3. No matter what you do, you cannot let your Puggle puppy think that his aggressive behavior is acceptable in any way. As soon as he shows signs of aggression, you should say “no” immediately in a strong, harsh tone so that he knows that such behaviors will not be allowed.
