Nude Pilates and Naked Exercise Aren’t for Everyone, But Au-Natural Training Is Gaining Popularity

Nude exercises. Nude Pilates. Naked yoga. Leave your inhibitions at the door. Exercising in the buff is becoming a trend!

With who?

While doing research for this article, I’m fascinated, not…surprised, by the number of forums out there for nude exercises. Now, I’m not a prude. I’m just curious.

Here are some descriptions I’ve read on forums from people describing their natural workouts. uninhibited Okay…obviously. Releasing. That comes up a lot. Productive. Productive? Let’s explore that one.

When working out in your birthday outfit, there’s nothing to hide. By doing nude Pilates exercises, this means even more. Pilates is a detail-oriented exercise method in which great attention is paid to form. What better way to see your shape than to do Pilates naked! You can’t cheat. Your belly will be inside. Your shoulders will be down. Its bottom is going to catch. Yes, your training will be more productive.

Does this mean that your local Pilates studio will start offering nude Pilates classes? Probably not. My Pilates studio won’t come mainly because no one would come. I live in New England. We cover almost everything around here.

I think most people practice their workouts in the nude in the privacy of their own home or at a strip camp. Is it safe to exercise naked? I have to believe that most of the exercises can be done in the nude, however, be careful with those high impact exercises. Breasts and testicles need a little extra support, thank you.

What about the clean factor of working out in the nude? What boil-producing germs are going to get into places they shouldn’t be? Even the cleanest Pilates equipment can contain a certain number of germs. This thought definitely has a kind of ick factor to it.

Ok… let’s give this topic a twist. What is the naked truth about Pilates? What are some myths?

Myth: Pilates is only for women.

Naked Truth: No way! Joseph Pilates was a man. Men also need strength, flexibility and balance training.

Myth: Pilates is like Yoga.

Naked Truth: No way! Yoga is Yoga. Pilates is Pilates. There are some cross references. Breathing, stretching, and concentrating are part of both modalities, but the similarities end there.

Myth: Pilates is too difficult to master.

Naked Truth: No way! You have to start somewhere and beginners benefit from Pilates just as much as seasoned professionals. Start with the basics even if you are fit. Remember: You must build a solid foundation before you build a house!

Whether nude exercises are your thing or not, give Pilates a try. With or without clothes, Pilates is an excellent option.
