Music review of Emergency by Pigeon Detectives

“The Pigeon Detectives” are a five piece indie rock band from Rothwell, Leeds in England. The Pigeon Detectives are Matt Bowman (vocals), Oliver Main (guitar and backing vocals), Ryan Wilson (guitar and backing vocals), Dave Best (bass and backing vocals), and Jimmy Naylor (drums and backing vocals). Their musical genre is mainly alternative rock, indie rock and garage rock revival and they are signed to the Leeds-based independent record label Dance To The Radio. Your funny band name? Honestly, I don’t think it’s funny, it’s very unique. Speaking of which and according to NME, drummer Jimmi Naylor stated that he never liked the name but grew into it and The Pigeon Detectives started getting attention because of the silly name. He even mentioned that “it came from an Australian guy we met at the Leeds Festival.

Emergency from The Pigeon Detectives is a great successor to its predecessor, Wait For Me. To some, it might even sound better than Wait For Me. It’s amusing that you discover that The Pigeon Detectives is, in a way, a cross between The Futureheads and The Libertines. The Pigeon Detectives has the raw energy of The Futureheads and the killer guitar hooks of The Libertines. Well, The Pigeon Detectives are relatively new, with Emergency being their second album, but I’m pretty sure they have a steadily growing fanbase.

The emergency begins with the full guitar “This is an emergency”. Matt Bowman can be heard singing, “Don’t make me go, don’t make me go home…” This Is An Emergency is the kind of song that starts out quiet and slow, eventually when everything’s okay, it gets louder and louder. all the rest of The Pigeon Detectives joined in with “This is an emergency…”. Heavy guitar playing can be heard throughout this track. A guitar fanatic will definitely love this song. It may not be the best opening for an album, but hey, This Is An Emergency is good enough to make you ask for more from The Pigeon Detectives.

The second track of Emergency is called “I’m not taking this”. It’s a fast tempo track with a quick start-stop guitar touch. Matt sings, “And I’m not going to accept it, because I’m so sick and tired of you lying to me, and I’m not sure you keep trying…” I can see that Matt is frustrated that he’s being lied to over and over again. once again, so you can hear a slight annoyance in Matt’s voice. At certain points in I’m Not Gonna Take This, the guitar is played in a way that resembles the sound of Indian music where it is used to control and even hypnotize a snake into performing a snake dance… Such Maybe The Pigeon Detectives already have me hypnotized.

“Follow your dress” It has a somewhat unique opening. Do you remember a movie starring Sandra Bullock and called “Ms. Congeniality”? If you can remember, she has a very special talent in that movie, that she makes a hissing sound by passing her hands or palms over half-filled glasses. Well, Keep On Your Dress has a special sound at the beginning. This song is a catchy pop rock ballad that I think everyone will like to hear, especially the guitar that has such a great hook.

“Don’t you want to find out?” is another Emergency track that has some very heavy guitar work and is played on it. Sometimes, I find it such an upbeat, upbeat pop song, especially when Matt says, “When the sun comes up, nothing bad will happen, because I’ll be far away from you…” Anyone who hasn’t heard of The Detectives pigeons can begin to understand them with Don’t You Wanna Find Out. I thought to myself, don’t you want to know more about The Pigeon Detectives?

i like the beginning of “I’ll be waiting”, where you can hear what sounded like lazy guitar until Matt came in with his exaggerated voice, “I know you think you’re so much better, and we used to get along together, now I don’t think that works, you want to see me on earth.. .” The chorus is even better, along with a light touch of guitar and bass, Matt says again: “I’ll be waiting for you, when do you want to go? Are you leaving? ” Honestly, I’ll Be Waiting is such a simple song with a really catchy beat and hooks, but things really change, I find myself like this song. Sometimes it’s simplicity that works like magic.

“She has left” it is full of catchy and energetic guitar riffs. Every time I listen to this song, I can imagine that The Pigeon Detectives are having fun with this song. When the chorus comes in, the guitar playing in the background was really good. One of the reasons why The Pigeon Detectives can succeed is definitely its catchy and ambitious guitar riffs.

“Nothing to do with you” is a short and charming ballad. In this beautiful song, you will discover another side of The Pigeon Detectives. By now you may have known that The Pigeon Detectives are amazing on guitars. But Nada Que Ver Contigo exposes another side of Los Detectives Palomas. Performed acoustically with the help of acoustic guitars, Matt showed us that he is equally as good even on acoustic sessions.

“I’m a liar” He achieves it with a start-stop bass line and some guitars that resonate like the sound of reggae. The chorus on I’m A Liar is really splendid. Matt says, “papapa padapa, papapa padapa, I only came here, ’cause I’m stopping you from drinking, honey…” This track is really packed with some serious guitar sounds, including the high-pitched solo guitar riff session after the second chorus. I’m a liar is loud and funny. It won’t be long before you find that you like this song. Some serious guitar hooks here.

Emergency continues with “You don’t need it”, whose guitar actually bears some resemblance to those of The Strokes. When I first heard You Don’t Need It, The Pigeon Detectives already left me wanting more. I just like all the guitar riffs that were going through this track. Before the verse, during the verse, during the chorus and after the chorus. And the rest of The Pigeon Detectives came in and joined in the fun and said, “You make me come and go and I just don’t know where I stand, how can you think of me when you’re with another man, oh you? I don’t need it!” !…” I wish I could join too.

“Say it like you mean it” It’s such a joyous and happy melody. A fast tempo track where The Pigeon Detectives play at their best. Fast and loud guitar riffs everywhere on this track. The verse of this song is really something. It has the quality of making me want to sing too. If I’m not mistaken, I think Matt is trying to tell a girl to say whatever it is she was trying to express, hence the lyrics, “Why don’t you mean it like you mean it?” This is definitely a track not to be missed if The Pigeon Detectives were performing live, and I would also enjoy this track even on a recording CD version. Listen happy. 😀

The title of “I love you for a day (I hate you for a week)” it is very attractive and after listening to the first track of Emergency, I immediately pressed the No.11 button to listen to this track. You see, the title you create also played an important role. Imagine if this track was simply called “Love You For A Day”. Wouldn’t that be too common for a title? Clever choice of title by The Pigeon Detectives. This song is about a couple breaking up and again, the main instrument that can be heard in Love You For A Day (Hate You For A Week) is the guitar. But it is very good, The Pigeon Detectives know how to play the guitar with style. There are some singing parts in this song that make me want to sing too.

“Invent Numbers” is yet again another track that contains some heavy guitar riffs. It reminds me of Guns and Roses. Every phrase that Matt sings is followed by some heavy guitars. There’s a problem here in the lyrics: “What the hell are we doing here? I’ve made my intentions clear, we should get out while we can.” Seriously, if you just read the sentence above, you’ll know what it means. However, if you look at the lyrics as a whole, it’s hard to understand. Even I don’t understand it myself. Making Up Numbers sounds like another couple’s breakup song all over again. Not a bad effort!

For the first part of “Everybody Loves Me – Draw the Curtain (Hidden Track)”, Everybody Wants Me is somewhat catchy with its steady guitar, drums, and tempo. It tells the story of a man where he was popular when he was young, everyone loves him… but he only has one person in his heart. Oh yeah, the bass on this track was a great impression too. When Draw The Curtain comes to life, it just gets better. Draw The Curtain is an acoustic track that I think was quite remarkable. The reason I said it? You’ll know when you hear it. The best part is when The Pigeon Detectives sing together in a band. It’s like they’re having fun with Draw The Curtain, as you can hear them laughing and whistling at the end of the track. Ending on a happy note! 😀

Classification: Emergency by The Pigeon Detectives is full of energetic guitar riffs. From the high pitched ones to the constant hooks. I bet they would leave us all exhausted if we saw them live at a gig or gig. The Pigeon Detectives really do make guitars their best friends, with every track, almost every one of them having some catchy, signature hooks. Considering that Emergency takes place less than a year after their debut, they have made Emergency as catchy as possible to whet the appetite of their fans. Even new fans of The Pigeon Detectives will most likely have a good impression on Emergency. However, to be honest, I find most of their songs forgettable. The Pigeon Detectives are still relatively new, time will tell if they will evolve and grow together as an indie rock band! My rating for Emergency from The Pigeon Detectives would be 6.2 out of 10.

Featured Songs (My Picks): Don’t you want to find out? She’s gone, you don’t need it, say it like you mean it and everybody loves me: pull back the curtain (hidden track).
