Thomas Jefferson was moved to comment: “My God! How little do my countrymen know of the precious blessings they are in possession of, and which no other people on earth enjoy!” NOT until drought, famine, and supernatural disasters strip our closets bare and EMPTY our grocery shelves will we know how well we’ve had it! Only when America goes hungry will she remember how full she was!
President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed April 30, 1863, a NATIONAL DAY OF FASTING, HUMILIATION AND PRAYER, and uttered these words: “We have been the recipients of heaven’s choicest bestowals. We have been preserved, these many years, in peace and peace”. prosperity. We have grown in numbers, wealth and power, as no other nation has ever grown. But we have forgotten God. We have forgotten the merciful hand that he kept us in peace, and multiplied, enriched and strengthened us; and in vain have we imagined, in the delusion of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some higher wisdom and virtue of our own. Intoxicated with uninterrupted success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the need to redeem and preserve grace, proud to Pray to the God who made us! It behooves us, then, to humble ourselves before the offended Power, confess our national sins, and pray for clemency and forgiveness.”
God heard and answered those prayers! The trial was anticipated. But where is a leader today with the moral courage and spiritual vision to strongly recommend that “We the People” humble ourselves and pray, let alone fast? We have to have our three meals a day, with lots of snacks in between! But the DROUGHT will force us to fast! God is going to hold back the rain suddenly, in various parts of our countries, destroying our crops. The floods will rot the rest (Amos 4:7-8)!
We are supposed to enjoy a reciprocal relationship with God, but we haven’t. Since we have failed to offer prayers, God is not going to send rain! Both our dry land and our lives NEED God’s Holy Spirit! We have to learn the spiritual relationship between the heavens and the earth: they are interdependent!
We need to fast and pray, now, to be delivered from further misery: “…if my people, who are called by my name (Christian countries), humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14).
Instead of becoming a model nation, we have become a STRIPPER! We have taken all the good things that God has given us and have put them before foreigners (Hosea 2:1-13)! We have wasted our time and energy on pagan ways and practices! Therefore, God is going to BARE OUR PEACE AND PROSPERITY! Let’s get exposed to the elements and naked before the NAKED AGGRESSION! Since we refuse to return to God, we will be sent back to SLAVERY!
We are a nation of DRUNKS AND WHORES, so God will allow us to hit rock bottom so hard that it will seem like we will never recover! God is no longer going to allow us to continue on our ways, drinking ourselves to death and dying for sex! We have gone from bad to worse: “You whipped them, but they were not sad; you consumed them, but they did not want to receive correction. They made their face harder than rock, they did not want to return” (Jeremiah 5:3).
We have become so hard of heart, so cold and cruel, that nothing seems to faze us anymore, but God is removing His protective shield from us (Isaiah 5:5). We are going to be devastated by the weather and our enemies! But we don’t attribute the dramatic increase in “natural disasters” and crazy weather to a spiritual upheaval. We see no connection between our land and our lives, even though Solomon was wise enough to know that there is a link (1 Kings 8:35-40). We must realize that nature does not have a mind of its own, but our Creator can use it to make us think (Jeremiah 5:20-25).
God says because he has called us on many different occasions, and we have refused to respond; we have broken the olive branch every time He has extended it; we have flatly rejected what He advised us to do, and we did not want to be told that we were not living well, laughing at God’s people as old-fashioned, and making fun of them for believing in the Bible and thinking that they are crazy for warning about Europe (which will give the death blow to our sick and dying country) instead of taking them seriously: “I too will laugh at your calamity, I will mock when your terror comes… When anguish and anguish come then they will call upon me, and I WILL NOT ANSWER They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me” (Proverbs 1:24-33).
Who likes a good weather friend? Who is willing to play second fiddle to someone or something in a right relationship? Does God want us to only look to him when we are short of money or need to get out of jail? Is God impressed with our attention when all our distractions have been removed? When can we finally listen to him and hear what he has to say because we no longer have a loud stereo or TV (because our houses have been blown up, destroyed or looted)? CONCENTRATION CAMPS will help us learn to THINK again!
As our CREATOR, God is going to send the forces of nature to bring His Message home! “And there will be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and on earth anguish of the nations, perplexed because of the roar of the sea and of the waves; men fainting from fear and expectation of the things that come upon the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken” (Luke 21:25-26).
When the balance of the Earth is off and nature seems to have strayed from the background; terrible tidal waves crash into cities, hit our shores and wipe out villages; Incredible earthquakes hit that make today’s problems look like tremors of mothers; droughts occur that suck every ounce of moisture out of the air; and so on with NO RELIEF in sight – people are going to snap! Some will literally be scared to death!
We need to WAKE UP and realize that all of this is symptomatic of our sick condition! Earth reflects our relationship with Heaven. The reason we experience bad weather is because there is SPIRITUAL SHOCKING in our lives! These strange acts of creation warn us that we are out of sync with Scripture!
WHAT WILL WE DO ABOUT IT? Will we remain ignorant and indifferent and die, or will we turn around as a people and a nation and save ourselves from further consequences for disobedience? (Daniel 9:11). God, help us to see that it will only get worse if we don’t get better. God help us to save ourselves from national destruction, defeat and deportation!
