International Class of Trademarks – Class 14 (Jewelery)

All products or services are classified in International Classes (hereinafter IC). Products run from IC classes 1-34, while services run from IC 35-45. Let’s take a closer look at one of these classes of trademarks: class 14.

What is International Class 14 about?

Each class has a short title that provides a snapshot of what that class is about: IC 14’s short title is jewelry. It seems pretty straightforward, right? But, as with any trademark, there is more to it than that.

Any jewelry item you can think of falls into this class, such as earrings, bracelets, necklaces, rings, anklets, and watches. It also includes jewelry for your pet.

What else is in international class 14?

It seems that with any of these kinds of trademarks, there always seems to be one or two strange elements and IC 14 is no exception. Here are some items that live in IC 14 that, while connected to jewelry, are not necessarily jewelry itself:

or precious metals and stones, such as gold, silver, opals, agate, topaz, peridot, etc.

or clocks either with alarm, for the car or with built-in radio

or collectible coins

o jewelry boxes, cases, organizers, as well as jewelry making kits

The USPTO has 298 accepted descriptions that fit IC 14; check them out here.
