How to potty train a child

Potty training boys usually takes longer than girls. They are usually more hyperactive and just don’t want to take the time to go to the bathroom. Motivation plays a big role and most kids don’t care if they’ll wear “big boy” underwear or not, so you may need to think of something your child will be excited about to encourage potty training. . Of course, every child is different, and your child may be potty trained quickly and easily.

It is also sometimes confusing for children as they stand up to urinate and sit down to defecate. You can help relieve your child’s stress by having him sit on the potty for both of you. He can then be taught to stand up to urinate once potty training is over. This will also prevent clutter as your toddler can focus on the training process and not on their goal. Learning to love may come at a later time.

Encourage your child to go to the bathroom often. She should remind him every 30 minutes to an hour at first to go sit on the potty. Once she can recognize your urination and bowel patterns, she can adjust her time to go to the bathroom to be less. You can also get a timer and explain that she has to sit on the potty each time the timer goes off. This would make it a little game and something that your child would easily understand.

Once you start using the potty, be consistent in your training. He will lose interest very quickly if you only potty train him when it is convenient for you. Every time you go to the bathroom and actually use it, make a big fuss. Clap your hands, jump up and down, whatever makes him happy and aware that you are proud of his small achievement.

Most young children don’t like to disappoint their parents, so if you have an accident in your pants, express your disappointment but in a loving and caring way. There is no need to speak badly or in a mean way to your child. Just remind him that he needs to tell you that he needs to go to the bathroom before doing it in his pants. Ask him to sit on the potty, put on clean, dry pants, and then help you clean up her mess.
