How to beat your stubborn cravings

Why does a person with good intentions to lose weight never reach their target weight? Well, there are many reasons for that, but one of the main reasons I think is due to cravings and people’s failure to control them. I don’t think it is possible to get rid of them completely, but through practical methods, you can certainly control your cravings and put yourself on the right path to reaching your ideal body weight.

If the cravings included foods like fresh fruits, no one would be overweight, but unfortunately, that is not the case! In fact, most cravings include the sweetest of sweets and contain a lot of unnecessary calories that your body simply doesn’t need. And as I’m sure you know, cravings often lead to binges!

Here are a couple of tips to help you control your cravings:

1. Stop denying yourself. You don’t need to completely cut out your favorite foods – try to eat less! If you’re going to satisfy your cravings, increase the amount of healthy foods you eat to balance your diet.

2. Eat healthy first. Sometimes you are simply hungry and given the choice, you will naturally eat your favorite types of food. Plus, if you fill up on healthier alternatives first, you’ll find it’s easier to avoid unhealthy snacks.

3. Avoid all your cravings. If you don’t have your favorite sugary snack around you, you’re less likely to be reminded of how good it tastes.

4. Change your image. When cravings hit, remember what your ideal body image looks like and then decide which one you want more of – your perfect body or your favorite foods?

5. Move your attention. Distract yourself by listening to music, reading, or even calling a friend. But if you really want to burn fat fast, try a little exercise every time you crave!

6. Get plenty of sleep and exercise. These 2 activities will help control certain types of hormones in your body, which regulate your appetite. Lack of anyone can lead to bingeing, talk about motivation!

7. Try the healthy alternative. Always carry healthy alternatives with you so that when all else fails, you have a healthy snack to chew on instead of a sugary snack.

Some of these strategies will work for you and some will not! All you need is a good strategy to overcome your cravings, so use the one that works best for you and discard the rest. If you want to reach your ideal weight, it is important that you control your cravings, not the other way around!
