If rock pools are present, the hunt for crabs and other tiny marine life will provide endless hours of fascination. If there are other children around, or your group is particularly large, why not organize a sandcastle competition, with a prize for the winner? Durdle Door Beach is a privately owned beach that is part of the Lulworth Estate, open to the public and featuring a striking limestone arch that branches out from the land towards the sea. It is worth a visit to see this natural arch, although the beach itself is not particularly large.
Weymouth Central Beach is a popular beach, made up mostly of fine sand, with some pebbles and pebbles to the north. It’s about a mile long and close to the city center and harbor, so it’s great if you want to head into town for lunch or dinner after a swim.
Friar’s Cliff Beach is popular with families because it has lifeguards on patrol during the summer months, making it very safe for bathing and swimming, as well as building sandcastles.
There is good disabled access to this beach, as well as a cafe and shop, but be aware that dogs are prohibited during peak summer months. While dogs are often welcome in vacation homes, the beaches are becoming increasingly dog-free during the summer months!
