Fishing Tackle Review: Daiwa Exceler 4000S Spinning Reel

Hello everybody. If you are a fishing enthusiast like me, then you know that there is no better feeling than that exciting moment when the fish hits the lure or bait and your line begins to run. I can’t think of anything I like more than a successful fishing excursion. Although I enjoy all types of angling, spinning has become my favorite lately. In the old rivalry between spinning and bait-throwing, for my money, spinning wins. This is why, along with a brief review of an excellent piece of spinning fishing tackle, the Daiwa Exceler 4000S reel.

About Daiwa spinning reels

I prefer spinning reels for their efficiency and smoothness. Also, I don’t particularly like having to use both hands to flip the bail and allow the line to come loose when pitching. I prefer Daiwa reels because many models allow one finger casting by using a locking mechanism that captures the position of the reel / bail in a particular location. In essence, this means that you can lift the line with one finger simply by pulling a trigger. Another improvement I find on many Daiwa reels is an ultra-strong roller bearing that helps reduce line wear and friction, especially on retrieval. The use of modern space age materials such as titanium and aluminum alloys has revolutionized Daiwa spinning reel manufacturing. In general, spinning reels allow for faster retrievals than bait launchers.

About the Daiwa Exceler 4000S Spinning Reel

This Daiwa reel provides superior performance while being incredibly versatile, so I’m always sure to have it in my tackle box. I especially appreciate the versatility of the 4000S because I am the type of angler who enjoys stalking many species of fish, including the elusive bass, fighting pike, and cunning barbel. This reel is also superior for salmon fishing. The reels of the S-model lines are incredibly durable, thanks to a precision-molded rotor and body that provide an incredibly improved feel in the hand.

4000S Reel Features

Daiwa has done a great job combining a less than 5: 1 ratio with a wider ABS2 spool. This means it has all the power conversion you would expect from a high quality reel from this company. I like that this spool can turn 86cm of thread with a single turn of the handle. Add in Daiwa’s exclusive DigiGear2 ™ feature, and honestly, you’ve got a match that’s unbeatable. The reel comes with a replacement ABS reel, AirBail and Twistbuster2, some of Daiwa’s most popular features. The handle is machine cut and the reel features an advanced level of locomotive wind. Finally, the 4000S has infinite anti-reverse, another feature that I think is absolutely essential on a spinning reel. Expect to pay around £ 61.99 for this reel. It has a capacity of 190 meters of 14 pound test line. The 4000S weighs 14.1 ounces and the recovery ratio is 4.9: 1.

For my money, the Daiwa Exceler 4000S Spinning Reel is an essential piece of quality, affordable, high-performance fishing tackle.
