Carp Fishing Tackle Review: Daiwa Regal 3500 X BR Carp Fishing Reel

While many anglers prefer to hunt for elite trout and noble salmon, I prefer crafty carp. Although there is no consistent history of this species, the carp is believed to have originated in eastern Europe, near the Black and Caspian seas. Known for their ability to adapt and survive in many different types of climates and waters, carp were actually once marketed as a form of fish currency! With such a rich heritage of legends and traditions, it is no wonder that I am fascinated and enjoy carp fishing so much. However, carp fishing can be tricky, so you’ll need all the help you can get. Here is a short review of an excellent piece of carp fishing tackle, the actual Daiwa Regal 3500 X BR.

About the Daiwa Regal 3500 X BR Carp Fishing Reel

This is a great looking royal that is sure to be admired by your fellow anglers. If you’re a traditionalist who prefers front end strength combined with a smooth free spool system, the Regal X BR is worth a serious look. Although there are 8 models in the line, the Regal 3500 X BR is my preference, mainly because it is so versatile, especially for specimen fishing. Another reason I like this reel is that it helps me maintain a high level of control when fighting a fish, due to the excellent drag resistance.

Features of the Daiwa Regal 3500 X BR reel

When I first used this reel I paired it with a medium-fast action rod and found this to be an ideal combination to propel the rod to full length. The reel has excellent casting performance due to superior and well thought out design. This Regal X BR has a machined motor plate and tin-plated line roller that are durable and strong, thanks to Daiwa’s excellent design. Priced at around £50.00, this is a reel every angler can afford to carry in their tackle box.

More Regal 3500 XBR Features

The X BR reel has the patented “Air Bail” system, which is made from strong, corrosion-resistant tubular stainless steel with an equally corrosion-resistant finish. The Air Bail design is bumpless and runs fairly smoothly, resulting in snag-free line pickup. Add to this the “Twist Buster” feature that significantly reduces line twist, and you have a nifty reel packed with features you’d find in one costing much more. The X BR also has a smart clutch system that uses a one-way bearing to restrict handle movement forward only. Other features include a graphite rotor, low-profile soft-grip knob, and spare graphite spool.

final thoughts

I discovered that Daiwa has a strong commitment to angling in the UK. Their products attract those anglers who place an exceptionally high value on this sport. What more can I say? The Daiwa Regal 3500 X BR Reel is an excellent carp fishing tackle backed by a world-renowned company.
