A short biography of Jacob Bogatin

Jacob Bogatin, born Yakov Gershevich Bogatin on August 13, 1947. He attended Saratov primary and secondary schools. He then continued his education at the Saratov School of Mathematics. While in the ninth grade, Jacob began a sky jump and pilot program at Gagarin Aviation School. In 1965, after graduating from high school, the young man applied to enter the Faculty of Cinematography in Moscow, but was unsuccessful. Later he was accepted to Saratov State University and graduated in physics in 1970.

Immediately afterwards, Jacob took a junior research position at Saratov State University and earned a Ph.D. in Physics. Since then, he has established the largest magnetic laboratory in the Volga region and equipped it with modern scientific machinery such as: Jeol and Comeca Microanalyzer, Magnetic Spectrum Analyzer, and 500,000x Electron Microscopes. In 1971 he got married. From 1973 to 1985, the professor published more than 100 articles on permanent magnets. In 1978, a young man invented the powerful ND-Fe-B permanent magnets that are used today in electronics, cars, and jets. In 1977, Jacob received a full professorship in physics. Under his leadership, many undergraduate students earned their doctorates and became scientists. His relationship with the Russian government began to deteriorate right after his mother and sister immigrated to Israel. In 1985, the young professor applied for an immigration visa, which was denied twice. In 1987, the man finally granted a permit to leave Russia and immigrate to the United States. His family was given 10 days to leave Russia.

In 1987, Bogatin immigrated to the United States and joined the Airspace Company in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania. From 1987 to 1988 he was director of the magnetic department and built a research center with a magnetic laboratory. In 1989 he invented the first uranium rare earth metal magnet together with the Aquanides magnet.

During 1988-1993, the scientist taught at UPEN for an undergraduate program.

Their children graduated from UPEN and Haneman University in 1992 and 1998, and later married. His daughter has two sons, his son has one son.

In 1993, the academic organized a magnetic company to make magnets.

In 1998, Jacob started a green field operation for his daughter and son-in-law. In addition, in 2000 he built a 3,500-foot medical center with a doctor’s office, radiology and physical therapy departments.

In 2002, he made the decision to publish the first brilliant monthly for the Russian community in the US and Canada called The Health Magazine. Five years later, the magazine became the only successful periodical with a circulation of more than 50,000 copies per month.

In 2002, the scientist was hired by a group of private investors to build a 22,000-square-foot diagnostic center. In 2003, the Radiology department with 25 employees opened its doors to provide the community with access to the newest technology: Siemens 1.5 tesla short-board MRI, 64-slice CT, dual-head nuclear medicine, and many more.

In 2003, the professor opened a Sleep Disorders Center for patients with sleep disorders.

In 2004, Jacob completed a radiation oncology department with a revolutionary IMRT treatment.

In 2005 he opened a cardiovascular department that offers a revolutionary CTA for cardiac scanning.

In August 2007 the professor celebrated his 60th birthday. His friends prepared many fascinating gifts for him, but the real star named “Jacob Bogatin” touched his heart most of all.

In October 2007, Jacob Bogatin decided to become a private pilot. He currently attends Hartman Aviation School and has 120 flight hours. With incredible energy, the scientist wants to prepare for a space mission.

Where does this man get his energy from? He has always been surrounded by energetic young people who always follow him in his endeavors. In addition, he carries with him a “Jewish lucky umbrella” from his rabbi grandfather, who was wiped out during the Stalin regime in September 1937.
