Treat your sore throat with effective natural treatments
A sore throat defines the inflammation of the back of the throat or pharynx. It usually appears when you have a cold or are having a bout of the flu. A sore throat is caused by strep throat, which means an infection of the pharynx caused by strep bacteria. A sore throat can be a bacterial or viral infection.
A sore throat is usually painful. You can barely swallow food due to pain.
Despite this, this problem is not very serious and can be easily treated with natural treatments.
One of the herbs recommended for treating a sore throat is licorice. You should be careful when consuming licorice teas to treat a sore throat. The treatment should be taken for a maximum of 10 days. If you continue the treatment after this term, some side effects such as swelling, high blood pressure or headaches may occur. Licorice was found to cause lower testosterone levels in men. Other side effects of licorice when consumed in high doses are: muscle disorder or heart failure.
Licorice should not be taken by people suffering from heart disease, breast cancer, high blood pressure, liver or kidney disease. Tea made from marshmallow root is also known as a beneficial natural treatment for a sore throat. Add a tablespoon of dried marshmallow root to 8 ounces of boiled water and let it steep for 10 to 15 minutes and then strain. Drink 3 cups every day.
If you have diabetes, consult your doctor before taking this treatment. Marshmallow is known to decrease the amount of sugar in your body, especially when taken in conjunction with diabetes medications. It also slows down the absorption of the drugs you are taking at the same time. Lactating or pregnant women should not have marshmallows.
In Chinese medicine, the honeysuckle flower is often used to cure a sore throat. Boil a cup of honeysuckle flowers (do not use the leaves but only the flowers) in a liter of water, cover the pot and let the tea steep for 15-20 minutes. Strain the tea and drink 4 cups a day.
Tea made with apple cider vinegar, lemon, honey and cayenne pepper is a very beneficial remedy for a sore throat. More on this is easy to prepare. You need a teaspoon of honey and the same amount of apple cider vinegar, a little cayenne pepper and the juice obtained by squeezing a quarter of a lemon. All these ingredients are added in a cup of boiled water. Stir and drink 4 cups every day.
Take a cup of corn and add some water. Boil them together until you get a paste. The paste should not be too thick. Add a teaspoon of honey and a tablespoon of butter. Eat this pasta as hot as you can. It is recommended to do this before going to bed. Wrap a scarf around your neck.
