Such powerful spokesmen for a society in need
They are often seen as radicals, non-stop rebels.
And rightly so, as they fight for freedom
To rectify injustice and mistakes in the midst of humanity’s plight.
These great prophets and preachers awaken our soul
Comfort, heal our wounds and make us whole
As it awakens us to the truth and our personal power
Unwilling to give in to the enemy that devours
They crash with all their might against the haughty-eyed malefactors
Corporate thieves stealing pensions and manipulating the books
Politicians who pretend and pontificate with patriotic rhetoric
Media moguls censoring public opinion with their spins
Public servants who simply serve themselves
Racist police brutalizing the black community
Florida boot camp workers who killed a black boy
That they were acquitted of manslaughter with immunity
NYPD kill black men at bachelor party
Our modern society seems to have avoided morality
Forgotten all sensitivity preferring blasphemy and vanity
But through it all with the sword of the word and the pen
Speakers and authors raise their voices to pierce and penetrate
Confront, correct, aggravate, agitate, irritate and alleviate
Such evils that denigrate the personality and stature of mankind
Provide society with a necessary alternative vision and cure.
Opening for the door of oppressed and slandered freedom
Producing revolutionary words with pure hearts
Without a doubt, we need more great debaters and provocateurs.
Of course, imperialism claims to invade the beaches and coasts of other nations
Send fighter pilots up high to bombard the bad guys and the innocent aplenty.
Meanwhile politicians with patriotic rhetoric give threats and bellow
However, brave debaters and authors to challenge the status quo
Giving light and illumination to a country that does not know which way to go
Deceived and blinded by their own pride, arrogance and greatness
which is why they will eventually self-destruct and be brought down to less
Weapons of mass destruction are a useless disguise, war a sad pain leading to mortal death, unless
Great debaters and authors can arise to open our dull and drunken eyes
These great debaters and authors make us think beyond media lies.
