Bounce House Sanitation and Cleaning

Bouncers can be a breeding ground for bacteria. Whether you’re renting a jumper, owning your moon bounce, or running an inflatable rental company, make sure the unit is kept sanitized and clean. If you are renting, it is up to the rental company to take steps to ensure that the rental equipment is sanitized and clean. If you own your jumping castle for personal or business use, below are the steps we use to clean our inflatables.

Step 1

Inflate the bounce castle. Once inflated, go inside and remove any loose debris. After picking up the debris, we sweep the unit, including the pillars and the net.

Step 2

Once the inflatable is free of debris and dirt, we begin the sanitizing process. We turned on a product that many schools use to clean their gymnastics and wrestling mats. It’s called Matt-Kleen and can be purchased in concentration by the gallon for around $55. This is very powerful and can be thinned to make about 60 gallons. Once we mix our formula, we spray the moonjumpers inside and out, the pillars, and the inflatable floor. Just wipe with a dry rag.

That’s all you have to do. For a commercial bounce house, 13′ x 13′ or 15′ x 15′, it may take around 15 minutes. As a rental business, you need to make your business stand out from the competition. The bounce houses you rent are your business card and the best way to get both repeat business and referrals. A clean and sanitized inflatable product can make all the difference. Do not ignore this process.
